Emoticons , who in the world will be unaware of this word. Its 25 years since the first emoticon was used and since then the development and change has been constant. Emoticons, has now become an inseparable part of any popular service. Let it be an Email, an article , IM etc etc.
If you ask my opinion about the messenger with best emoticons, Yahoo !! would be the answer. I never liked the way other IM’s emoticons were developed. Yahoo’s emoticons gave a realistic feeling in terms of expression. The whole emoticon list of yahoo is available here.
Yahoo !! is running a contest in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Emoticon. The first emoticon was invented by Professor Scott Fahlman,of Carnegie Mellon University in 1982. In his words : “When I first proposed the smiley face symbol
, I never thought it would take off the way it has,”.
To participate in yahoo’s emoticon contest , just submit a photo of your emoticon idea to the contest. The idea should be new and not amongst the existing one.The contest is running in the U.S., India and Vietnam until July 31, 2007.
