In some computers, the maximum number physically possible for a decimal field is 18 digits. The amount above is 17 (the pennies count, the punctuation doesn't). Even so, it's unusual for all 18 of them to be displayed, making this incident even more hard to believe. Bills are so crowded that allowing for 9 or 10 is more common. One would like to see the bill (personal info withheld, of course) to insure that this is not a hoax).
