Doesnt look like a co-incidence that Xperia and Nokia rhyme ??? Sony Xperia X1 (or Sony winXPeria) offers different and all in one experience as mentioned by so many demo or so called hands on video published over the net.
When I and heard about Sony Xperia, a jealous Nokia fan within me consoled that “Nokia will come up and will beat this!!”. When ?? God only knew at that time !! but now everyone know about the gonna be showcased in Mobile World Congress ( WMC ), the S60 touch UI.
Dont get disheartened by the crappy videos circulating over the web demonstrating S60 Touch UI over a tablet PC. When we talk about S60 touch , we know that nokia is gonna do it the Iphone way ( I am sure much better than that ). After all they only said
If there’s something good in the world, we proudly copy it.
check out the video here ( it was all an Iphone effect
)

apoc over symbian-freak has this to say about touchscreen phone ,
The main reason why I don’t like it that much is the fact that all touch devices including mighty iPhone have one huge disadvantage - it is the lack of stimulus for the sense of touch. When you touch it, it doesnt touch you back, and therefore most of us still prefer the good old buttons instead of a piece of flat and cold glass.
If you read an article posted long back on this blog about nokia’s interest in touchscreen devices and the article did make a mention that there would be something groundbreaking getting launched in 2008 by nokia. I think that time is very near.
For a long time nokia has been working hard in terms of user interface. Time to time they have released videos giving a sneak view of the future interface in mobile phones. Have a look at other future interface of mobile phones which might turn true in near future.
Microsoft want a monopoly ??

Yahoo did right rejecting Microsoft’s offer of acquisition and so did nokia. Sony Xperia launch under Windows mobile would have been least expected by a SE fan, but while they drool over the specification, they have to accept this with a pinch of salt. If you try to drill down deep into this, you will actually realize that it was something which Sony itself would have expected the least. Why I say so ?? Coz :
- Not even in a single video they talk about Windows Mobile
- They say even though xperia is powered by WinMo , it keeps a Sony feel in it ( means they want to brand it as a Sony powered device rather than a WinMo device
- I still feel they pre-released Xperia, as there are no videos which actually take you over the whole UI, other than the autorotation one. Even the sony guys are so reluctant to hand it to the reportors at MWC
Another reason could be, low availability of third part applications for Symbian UIQ platform eventually made them shift to WinMo to compete with Symbian S60 or the going to be released S60 touch. 77.3 million is after all not a small figure !! Isnt it ??
Micorsoft offer for WinMo in nokia phones was a surprise news for many. That time no one knew that they already got Sony and heading for a complete monopoly by offering WinMo for nokia.
No two opinion that Sony Xperia is one of the greatest and finest phone released by Sony till date. But I am waiting for more hands on video. The hype a touch screen can create is only because of it unique UI, and Sony is hiding it. I wonder what is the reason. Anyways Xperia X1 is just the begining of the X1 series as conveyed in the launch conference and let see what is lying ahead !! Actually speaking , I cant wait to see more
BTW , did you guys see the N96 video advertisement ?? Nokia’s Amazing marketting example

Much awaited from Nokia. Lets see how it turns out.
So, apple will not get into Indian market, I think. When we have a Nokia equivalent then no one is going to choose Apple here.
@doli ,
I also like touchscreen , but it should have multitouch feature
@nirmal , I am kinda sure that it will turn out great
@smackall,
Apple has it own craze. Its the same way apple did it with laptops. They are more for fashion related stuffs with some groundbreaking technology involved without compromise on user experience. So , in todays terms fashion sells along with technology
I have wanted one of these forever! THANKS for the great work
