Nopes, it has nothing to do with the nanowire technology which boosted mobile batteries life 10 folds . You must have read about google’s 100 miles per gallon hybrid cars . Hybrid cars , that what these batteries are all about.

    ultrabattery hybrid

The UltraBattery combines a supercapacitor and a lead acid battery in a single unit, creating a hybrid car battery that lasts longer, costs less and is more powerful than current technologies used in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) . Tests show that the UltraBattery has a life cycle that is at least four times longer and produces 50 per cent more power than conventional battery systems. It’s also about 70 per cent cheaper than the batteries currently used in HEVs and recent hybrid electric test vehicle reached 100,000 miles as the car circled a track in the UK using the power of an advanced CSIRO battery system.

I wonder why always tests are done on hybrid vehicle’s which hardly find their existence on this planet. I hope they develop these kinda a batteries which can be used in normal conventional vehicle. May be creating batteries for hybrid vehicles might work as a solid base for developing them for normal vehicles too. :)
