UAE telecom is growing at fast pace in terms of technology. Take from high speed internet on 3g network to video calls , to the availability of mobile TV on your 3g handset, you will get all the lastest technology right in your mobile. With everyday new developments taking place, UAE telecom is also trying to update itself.

For those who are unaware, there are currently two network providers in UAE. Etisalat and DU . With the competition rising up , both the operators are trying to attract customer with lots of new offers and features.
Du signed agreement for flight Connectivity
Now remain connected while you are flying. Du signed an international roaming agreement with AeroMobile, a provider of mobile phone services to airlines, to bring in flight connectivity to its mobile users. So once the service is operational, you will be able to call , inform about any flight delay or any other important information, while airborne .
Osman Sultan, CEO, du said
“We understand customers would like to stay connected with their family members, friends and business associates even while air borne. With the introduction of this service, du will add comfort and value to customers through state-of-the-art communication modes”
I hope the day is not far when flight staff will advice you to keep your mobile phone switched on so that your family and friends can connect you while you are flying, instead of the orthodox announcements ” Please switch off your mobile phones so as to prevent any interruption with the flight navigation system “.
I think its high time when these services should be provided in each and every aircraft.
Etisalat launches voice SMS
No more typing text sms if you are an Etisalat subscriber. Now you have an option to record your voice for 30 secs and send it to any any other etisalat mobile user, who will receive the SMS notification and the steps to follow to retrieve the voice message.
30 seconds seems a good long duration to record message. Eisa Al Haddad, chief marketing officer, etisalat states
“The key benefit of this service is that since it is recorded in the sender’s own voice, there are no language restrictions like in text messages. We are happy to enable the multicultural population of the UAE to reach out to their loved ones in this new and unique way”
Very true, language wont be a restriction once you start using this service and its not any handset dependent too. If you are from UAE, and an etisalat subscriber you can try this service as mentioned below
To send a message, simply dial * (star) followed by the mobile number (for example: dial *0501234567) and press the call button; then record your message after the tone and disconnect or press any key to hear more options.
Retrieval of the message for the first time is free of charge by calling *0* and the repeat and retrieval of old messages, by calling *1*, will be charged at normal local mobile call charges. The customers will be able to store 20 voice messages.
Its nice to see lots of new development taking place in tele communication. With operators are unable to reduce the ISD call rates, coz of the guidelines issued by TRA, UAE, operators are trying best to attract customer.
Both the mobile operator provide 10% extra credit if you recharge your prepaid mobile through your credit card over internet. Also with MoreCredit option provided by du you now get 20% extra credit on all recharge value. So that means if I recharge online with my credit card a value of 200AED (approx $55) ( valid for one month ) I get talktime value for 260 AED (approx 72 $ ) . In INR around 600 rupees more. This is the advantage of staying in a tax free country.

.. and yeah about the climate .. its the best at this time …
Wow man , your company was really good.
@roffi ,
customer support is very poor in Dubai .. I hope they improve
@techbliss,
yeah I want this service to start as early as possible
Well, I’m planning to visit Dubai during DSF, just a break from work.
Same here… I’ll be also visiting Dubai during DSF!
@nirmal
@haris
Hey guys do tell me your plan. I would love to be of any help.
Al Ain? Zoo ahh? They now have Bird park (like the one in Singapore). It’s open after 8 PM. Did ya check it?
Al Ain is prolly the best natural tourist spot in UAE. I always like Abu Dhabi Emirate. Did ya catch Jebel Hafeet & Al Falah (on the way to Jebel Hafeet)?
DSF is the best time for tourist. Happy Id and Christmas. Enjoy the Holidays.
@ashwin, it was not that good trip. First i lost the way getting to dubai al-ain road… well it was stupid going thru emirates road. THen when we reached al ain , it was full traffic from half way to jebel hafeet. so we had to return back from half way. the whole mountain road was stinking coz so many cars got heated up stuck in the traffic and the steam mixed with coolant gave an unpleasant odor. Hey i didnt know about bird park.. will visit next time for sure
… happy christmas to you too …
