Google talk, Skype on mobile ??? Yes its true ,as finally VOIP is not limited to Desktop PCs. Gone are the days when you always had to seek a internet cafe ( if you were not having internet at home), or go to a shop to buy a microphone and speakers.

In many countries( like UAE) the telecom operators have blocked the voip websites and are preventing users from using them as it is effecting there income on International calls.

Mobile phone makers are currently trying to implement VOIP in mobiles and the top one in this race is Nokia. Nokia E series Handset come up with inbuilt SIP protocol which can help you in placing an internet call. I will discuss how to use SIP in detail in my coming post. Here I will try to tell you the Top 5 voip providers for mobile. So here goes the list .

    1. Yap On ( I am using it :D ) :

I am currently using this and its really good. You can go through the instructions on the website , and you can use it directly on your mobile. All you have to do is send a text message and you will get a call back connecting your call .

You need is a GPRS connection and set up an email account on your phone. If your phone supports GPRS , surely it will be having setting account for email. You can use gmail as it suuports POP3 protocol and you can very easily set it up on your phone. All you need to do is to enable the pop3 settings in gmail.

Even if you are in office and have access to gmail on desktop , you can just send a blank email to xxxxxxxxxxx@yapon.net where xxxxx is the phone number with country code.
    Features :

FREE 1$ to test the service

credit card support for topping up account.
you can view all you call details as well as the time the call lasted.
you have an option to show your caller id to the person you are calling.
check your balance by just sending an email.
      …. and many more.

    2. Barablu mobile voip

This is the second mobile voip service which provides integration of msn messenger , skype and other voip providers. All you need to do is register, and they will send sms with download link . This is to check the mobile phone you are using, and whether it will support barablu or not. You have a desktop application also and you can register and import contacts from skype and google talk messengers. So if your phone supports wifi and you are on a hotspot , you can go online and talk to your buddies. There are tons of features provided by this software. Even soon I think video conferencing through you mobile camera will be possible.

    3. Fring mobile voip

This is the third mobile voip service and is also becoming very very popular. Its installation procedure is alomost similar to Barablu mobile , but there is just one difference. In this the first time you log in , you will get additional option to log into your skype , google etc accounts and hence you will be able to see you frinds online. In barablu you have first import the contact through the PC application.

There is one noticeable problem in fring is that , the sound is very low and if you are in a noisy area , you will end up hearing nothing. But still its worth one try. :-)
