    Philips 42PFL7403D/F7

HDTVs come and go. So has it been for a while. Consumers are always looking for top quality, and products that deliver. So the likes and dislikes will result in the poor performance as long as sales are concerned. Such may be the problem the new Philips 42PFL7403D/F7 may have. The TV has all the qualities to make it standout amongst its contemporaries but complaints of poor picture quality may cause it to tumble in public ratings. It is a big surprise that a world leader in innovative, durable consumer electronics is suffering from such negative comments.

That aside, it is a great buy. You have USB connectivity to enable you take advantage of other portable media. You have 42 inches of screen space to watch almost every program or play a demanding game.

The audio output on the TV is commendable. As an improvement over previous versions, the 42PFL7403D/F7 delivers near surround sound effect; making it a suitable set for gamers. The set also has a slideshow feature that enables the user to view his pictures or images in a PowerPoint style. It is still unclear why Philips limited the types of pictures to jpeg when there are several other picture files. You can play back MP3 audio from any USB enabled device.

The Philips TV does well to show users how much power their TV uses when in a particular mode. This is a big plus for a company that is at the forefront of energy conservation. It also helps users know the various options as regards their energy use.

In contrast to these captivating features are the poor descriptions provided on some of the menus. The system assumes that the terms are familiar to many users but not rightly so. For example few TV users have every heard of or know about Digital Natural Motion.

It is anticipated that Philips will make a sequel to the 42PFL7403D/F7 and correct most of the dislikes that consumers have noted. That done, the 42PFL7403D/F7 HDTV will stand tall in the home entertainment segment of consumer electronics.

Expecting an audible improvement from a power cable is like expecting that leather seats will make a car accelerate faster when the windows are open!

Here’s the magic of how an antenna works. You stick it up on your roof…all the RF transmissions coming from the towers float through the air, hit the antenna, and the signal travels down the cable into your TV.
