Recently we heard Antti Vasara, General Manager , Nokia Mobile Devices Business Unit stating that nokia is not at all interested in touchscreen phones mostly because of the lack of keypad.

But his claim backfired in just few weeks as rumors widespread that nokia’s next big thing is gonna be a touchscreen device which will be released in early 2008.

Nokia, the cell phone giant , announced that it has licensed new touch feedback technology from haptic developer, Immersion.

Under the new long-term license, Nokia will have the right to use Immersion’s VibeTonz Mobile Player technology in any of its mobile devices sold worldwide.
Immersion said “it will begin supplying the VibeTonz software developer’s kit (SDK) to Nokia’s developer community starting this month. In turn, that community will be able to create downloadable applications and future content for VibeTonz-enabled cell phones.”

Its good to see that nokia is also ready to the enter the touchscreen market. I hope it will be able to create some vibe like Apple’s Iphone. Nokia’s marketing strategies are really well managed and its very well known in making multimedia computers. So let wait for some announcement’s from nokia regarding some touch screen mobile.
