Nokia’s commitment to provide touchscreen phone for masses is very much visible now. Now and then they revamp the already existing touchscreen device and with little feature cutting , release it as a new mobile. Nokia 5800 is the highly abused model in such case. Already released Nokia 5800i , Nokia 5800 navigation edition , Nokia 5530 and now Nokia 5230 seems nothing more than revamped version of Nokia 5800.

The major difference other than feature cut, is the coloured panel, so that you can personalize it as per your style. Being the Symbian s60 5th edition phone, there is no change in UI and the phone is overall just old wine in new bottle. The phone is mainly marketted as a music oriented phone with upto 33 hours of music play over a single charge of battery.
Here are the specifications :
- 3.2-inch widescreen touch display.
- Full-screen QWERTY keyboard and handwriting recognition
- HSDPA connectivity
- Ovi Store is nestled neatly on the homescreen
- 33 hours of playback time
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Memory expandable up to 16GB via a microSD card.
- assisted-GPS with Ovi Maps,
- Nokia’s new Contacts bar on the homescreen,
- a 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0
Two versions of the phone will launch – a standard device costing 149 Euros, and in some select areas a Comes With Music version will be available for 259 Euros .
I think its high time Nokia announce a separate series for Touchscreen phones as their touchscreen lineup is getting crowded with the similar designs of phone. Moreover the numbering is getting confusing also, might be adding a “T” with the model number will be much better.
