Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2009 , rumors and expectations !!

Nearly two more weeks to go for Feb 16th and for MWC 2009 ( mobile world congress ) to kick off. The rumor market is getting hotter and hotter day by day about the product launches which might take place during this event.
Also it would be interesting to see the strategy, which these companies are going to adopt to tackle the economic downtime.

Samsung

Its amazing how Samsung has finally changed a lot of things. They have learnt a little bit of marketing strategies and also they are getting more and more technologically advanced.

12 megapixel camera phone

Samsung InnoV8 was just the starting of the megapixel war. However, if there is no change in the sensor, a 5MP camera phone is no good than a 2MP. Samsung has already created a buzz as the rumor market predict that a 12mp camera phone may be launched by Samsung in MWC’09 .

IMHO, I dont think its going to be good idea to go with a 12 mp camera phone at this time. The image size is really going to be huge, and hence the processing and editing the image could be slow. Even today mobile hardware has not seen any ground breaking results. At the same time , the price tag could be really hefty.

Projector phone Samsung ‘Show’

Samsung has already demonstrated a projector phone ( Samsung Show ) at CES, but again MWC 2009 could bring some more insight on this. For Chinese phones this technology is nothing new, but it would be interesting to see how much of battery life this phone can provide for projecting pictures or movies on the wall.

Omnia to go 16 GB

One of the highly advanced touchscreen phone by Samsung, might go 16Gb this MWC. Its good to see that being a pioneer in Megapixed war, Samsung want to concentrate on its storage capacity also, atleast for the high end phones.

Nokia

The phone manufacturing giant is kinda silent after the release of Nokia N97 in December 2008. But, I am getting a feeling that its just a silence before a storm. If i am going according to my instincts, Nokia should launch another flagship device in this MWC 2009.
Samsung and LG are all set to become leaders in touch screen market of mobile phones with both of them having loads of touch enabled phone in their portfolio, and with the success of Nokia 5800 , Nokia must be feeling disgusted for being out of this lucrative market for so long.

However, this is the right time for Nokia to announce a list of touch screen phones and it do make sense after a reward winning success of Nokia 5800 and also the overwhelming response towards Nokia N97.
So guys wait for some mystery announcements taking place by Nokia this MWC.

And just there is another news breaking out that Nokia is already planning for loads of touchscreen phones ( Multitouch May be ) in second quarter of this year. ..

Nokia N99 ????

There is a whole lot of discussion going on mobile-review forum(u need to scroll down to the middle) about Nokia N99, with 8MP camera and 3x optical zoom. What say guys ?? Seems too good to be true but will be an amazing gadget to have.

Adobe Flash for Iphone

A flash disabled web experience is what was Iphone’s identity. Apple never seemed to be tooo interested in integrating flash on Safari browser on Iphone as they said , it takes a lot of time to load.

But I think its demand of time for Adobe to finally come out with a solution as early as possible. Youtube and many other web 2.0 websites which work purely flash based are still not available on Iphone. So lets hope this is going to be one of the major announcement this MWC 2009.

Mozilla browser Fennec for mobile phone

The browser war was actually started by Skyfire which enabled desktop type browsing onto a mobile phone. Tabs , full flash support and support for web 2.0 websites were some of the features which were provided by Skyfire and later by Opera mobile 9.5 also.

Mozilla till now was still trying out things with its browser Fennec with alpha version. However, in the next few days expectations are high that Mozilla is finally going to release the beta version of Fennec and it would be available for Windows Mobile OS.

Sony Ericsson

After getting messed up with the release of Xperia, and a huge Q4 loss , SE is not anywhere on the rumor market . However, Xperia didnt get an overwhelming response in sales due to its high price and not so user-friendly panel interface.
However, lets hope there is something still will pop out of Sony.

LG

LG has already announced that its going to release more than 100 mobile phones this year. LG has got overwhelming response for its touchscreen phones and has managed to reach the 3rd position in top 3 handset sellers after Nokia and Samsung. So, expectations are there from LG for the release of some great gadgets.
