Happiness is Owning an Iphone, and apple fans in India must be eagerly waiting to embrace this happiness “Officially” in September. As apple products (considering MacBook ) are highly overpriced in India, Iphone is also going to follow the same trend. Apple macbook is around 25k INR costly in India compared to US, and Iphone 8gb is going to be around 11k INR more than the US one.
Vodaphone is preparing to bring Iphone to Indian masses in first week of September, with an Expected price of 28,000 to 30,000 INR for a 8GB version. Whole lot of speculation is going around in web world that Apple is planning to discontinue the 8gb version of Iphone after the release of 16GB version. Also with 3g Iphone around the corner , we can even expect the storage capacity rising to around 32GB.
What the heck, 16GB jailbroken Iphone is available in Dubai for 2200AED around 24,000 INR.
This just left me with one Question, Are these companies using India as a dumping market, by selling the outdated products and that too overpriced ?? What you feel ??

This is the problem with most of the companies, especially Apple, they sell outdated products in India at a higher rate. I’m not sure how Indians are going to react to this price. I think the unlocked version could be still cheaper.
unlocked version is very much cheaper… soon after official launch here, we will have much cheaper unlocked ones… lets wait for the release.. any way

India version can never be cheaper becoz of the taxation. Its just that since apple has no manufacturing plan in India, stores have to import these goods and hence pay excise tax which is again collected from the buyer. Hence, there is nothing much which companies can do about it.

You are right, unlocked version is pretty cheap in India. Its more of like street price concept. The price of a nokia mobile is much less when bought at local resellers than nokia priority centers

Ipods are popular everywhere and are getting popular in India too, (after all apple logo is there).

The real price has come.the iPhone 3G will be available in India from August 22, 2008
It will be available in 8GB & 16GB models, priced at Rs 31,000 and Rs 36,100 respectively.
