  • One new search engine is trying its luck in the market. Search engine is named “MAHALO” and means

    Hawaiian for Thank you

The functionality based on 40 guides who are continuously filtering the content provided by other search engines. Basically, editors are selecting the results returned by Google for certain
keywords and publishes only the most relevant of them, showing only proper information according to the users’ keywords.

At this time, the search engine indexes approximately 4000 search results from Google, but the company aims to have at least 10.000 on December 31

new search engine mahalo in alpha stage

    Whats the difference??

    As per “Mahalo” ,

Mahalo is the world’s first human-powered search engine powered by an enthusiastic and energetic group of Guides. Our Guides spend their days searching, filtering out spam, and hand-crafting the best search results possible. If they haven’t yet built a search result, you can request that search result. You can also suggest links for any of our search results.

More about mahalo , you can find at mahalo faqs here

Seems quite interesting, but just imagine the real time usability of such a human powered technology where the search is powered by Human indexing. So, does that mean , it will direct to relevant pages but not relevant sites ??? Quite possible !!! Just with a crew of 40 people in the start , the scenario which Mahalo is trying to prove, seems very tiny. Where 1000 of topics added per day , relevance cant be based on topics published a day before.
In todays world where blogging is on real high and having millions of blog, the person would like to see his blog listed in the search engine if queried by the blog or website name.

    I tried searching

Ok. I thought let me try searching something . What other than my own name :-D !!! So i searched for “Kanak Bhandari” in mahalo and got the following results.mahalo search result

Its wrong at my part searching something like on a new search engine who has not read my web blog’s sitemap :-D . But still , i wont use a search engine which cant list my blog :-( .

    What i actually Feel

You all might be knowing about a site called Wikipedia . I will call mahalo a sister concern at initial stage for that providing results from other sources too. The search result is kind of same in both providing a detailed result consisting nearly all the details.
For example :- A search result for Iphone resulted in this :
    iphone search at mahalo
It also resulted in youtube video and top 7 results were based on news site and first one with link to Apple
    .
Seems quite good for popular searches but for me “similar to wikipedia”
