Chocolate portable Hard Disk drive Concept : Give me a piece of it

    Recently when I posted about the concept of extension cord, it was liked by many. So here is another concept. This time its a hard disk drive. Well, looking at the creative side of it, design is inspired with a simple chocolate and thats where the similarity ends. quoting from yanko designs :

    Each piece is made of a modular flash drive. The central hub is a touchscreen to help you view and organize your collective files. In theory it sounds clever and usable but would this really work in the real world?

    The concept is really great. Few points in support of that :

    • We all like the data to be organized. Thats is why when we get a hard disk , we partition it into many drives, and then we subdivide the same into folders. Well, this concept solved that issue as you can have every flash drive for different purpose and when you combine them, they all join together to form a large memory.
    • Privacy : Your friend ask you for the hard disk. You are a bit hesitant as it contains your personal data. This concept design solved the problem as you can just take out the flash drive having that personal data and give it hard disk to your friend.
    • Choose the color: With the availability in different colors, choose the color of drive which matches your personal taste :)

    The only problem which can be faced here is frequent data corruption. So many flash drives, so many connection points = frequent data corruption.

    Lets see if some company takes the challenge and turn this concept into reality. :)

    Still thinking if its possible to store large content. It is more like keeping a bunch of pen-drives than calling it a hard disk. I am not sure if it is a good one for many.

    If i had a single file which its size is larger than the capability of any single modular flash drive, how i store this file? Will it cut my file and store separately?

    I would like a similar Ram for all my office PCs. Each piece should be around 128mb ram and I should be able to plugin when the PC is on. So that I can plugin to other PCs when I start gaming. This would let you put as much amount of ram as u want. :) What do you think?

    May be your answer is
    @Smackall: yeah some ppl dont have creative mind… ;)

    @Sang-hoon Lee :

    Man, you desire to be called a creative designer. I saw your site and the one about chairs. Though being a simple concept it’ll workout well.

    @smackall,

    hey you do have a creative mind. Plug and play option for ram will be a great option. Instead of wasting the ram of the PC which is idle coz of some employee on leave or vacation, it can utilized to speed up other processes. And yeah I can understand your demand of ram for game developments. :D
