Tecfre.com has undergone numerous redesigns, the latest being an year back. However, no matter how well I conceptualize the design in my mind, I was never able to give it a reality. So this time I decided to let the experts do the design while I sit back and completely energize myself to take tecfre.com to new heights. Arpit has really gone a great job with the design.

With so many upcoming events this month, there couldn’t been a better time to be back. The biggest of them are the new iPhone launch on Oct 4th and  Nokia World by the end of the month.

So lets get going ..

How busy you can be that you need a visual reminder for turning off water taps? Water is precious natural resource and  its even difficult to imagine life without it. These decorative lights looks stunning and the usage of LED lights make it more power efficient. Do you know the amount of water wasted due to running taps while brushing teeth totals around mind boggling 35000 litres per year/family. I think best place to fix these lights will be just beyond the wash basin. They come in three different styles :

• The standings
• The Chandeliers
• The wall

California-based designer Tanya Clarke is the daughter of environmental activist Tony Clarke, the author of Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop the Corporate Theft of the World’s Water. Tanya’s own contribution to water awareness is Liquid Light – Industrial Light Installations, a series of custom-built fixtures that "create a visual reminder of the precious commodity that water is and our need to protect this natural resource.LED lights , recycled plumbing and hardware , hand sculpted glass drops and found objects are incorporated to contribute to the zero footprint movement in the form of Liquid Light."

If you buy these lights, 5% of your purchases go towards the education and action on global water justice issues.

This is not the first time such kind of industrial design has been made. In early 2007 Rafel Morgon had a similar Light Drops model as shown below.

I kinda like these designs, wonder they will be at sale in Dubai. Whats your opinion ?

Its new, its fresh and its GREEN. I have been really busy working with the new design as I had set the launch date deadline by Oct 1st 2010. Till couple of days back, I was sure that I am  going to miss it as making it Internet Explorer 6 compatible was a hefty task. But somehow things worked on and here is Tecfre.com with a brand new design. I recently started blogging again and a design change was much required due to various shortcomings in previous theme. Tecfre.com has undergone design changes in history many times. Below pic could give you more insight on the design change this blog has gone through from the time it was started in May,2007

This design change took nearly half a month and going Green was a pretty easy to decide.

New Features with New Tecfre.com

New design bring some very important features for me which lacked in previous design :

• Featured Posts Slider on home page
• Widgetized Sidebar ( So no more need of editing the template file)
• Better comment Management with Disqus comment plugin
• Front page posts with thumbnails
• Faster loading time compared to previous theme due optimized placement of java scripts

I was just going through the revisions this design has gone through and its amazing the way this theme came up in the end. If possible, I will share it next week. Below is the screen shot of previous design of Tecfre.com.

If you are unaware of the issue, kindly read the Nokia’s official statement over Legal action against Eldar Murtazin.

Anyways lets go in a little more detail about the interview, first the interviewer, The MIGHTY TechCrunch.

They love iPhone, along with many more. By saying “Who cares about Nokia?” , itself shows  how biased they are. I wonder they were taking an interview or doing a comparative study between iPhone and Nokia. Anyways I couldn’t expect anything better than them and I sympathize towards their technological knowledge deprivation, at least in case of mobile phones. They even talked about unheard Nokia N7. I think they should also be grilled by some authorities regarding the unknown Nokia N7 (quite possible they might be having one) .

With millions of subscribers, I think techcrunch should learn to become more credible.

But here the point of focus is Mr. Murtazin. Lets see what he claims :

1. I have no phones

Well, this point is numerously argued already. A guy writes review without having a phone. And great Mr. Murtazin want everyone to believe it. The twitter addict tweeted numerous times about many Nokia phones he is carrying. Also I think Mr. Murtazin should go back and re-read his interview to Unwired view.

2. Nokia never contacted me

Ah , again pointing out an excerpt from the unwired interview part 2 on the question of Nokia N8 firmware :

S.B. And, just for the record, people were saying that Nokia N8 you have, is a very early, pre-production prototype, with very early software.

E.M. It’s not true

S.B. So you have a pretty up-to-date software, more or less the same Nokia has right now?

E.M. Actually, Nokia Security, they really want to know exactly which version of software I am using, which devices, which hardware version I have, or do not have on hand. I get a lot of these questions about software, coming from different sources, sometimes Nokia Security asks this in our forum, through e-mails. This way they are trying to figure out from which sources it’s coming, etc; So I will not comment on exact software or hardware versions.

So Mr. EM is trying to say that Nokia is secretly trying to figure out which software version his N8 runs . I wonder in his N8 second review, Mr. Murtazin didnt post any photos/videos taken from N8.

3. I am journalist, not a blogger.

I wonder someone needs to explain Mr. Murtazin the real meaning of journalism. Are journalist biased ? Do journalist write articles based on emotions and not on facts ? Here are one excerpt from Mr. Murtazin’s Samsung Wave review :

Naturally, the owner of the device will need to connect the Wave to your computer using a cable from the set – though to find such a cable is no problem everywhere, microUSB has become universal. When you connect your phone starts charging, it is defined as a removable drive (memory device or memory card), and you will only have to select and drag files into the correct folder.

And here is an excerpt from Nokia N8 review :

According to research only a small number of users benefited from this feature. We will see if the aggressive promotion of this option in Nokia N8 can make people use HDMI for showing photos and video. The cable offered is more convenient to carry as it is more compact than TV-OUT cables in the past, but you have to carry it around anyway, which may be a problem for some people as the cable is unusual (even microUSB is not easy to find in every home or office and here we have something different)

I wonder how “easy to find micro USB” became “not easy to find”.

Second, In the interview to Unwired view part 1 he says

It depends on the speed of development. [Nokia N8] hardware, is nearly perfect.

In the interview part 2 he says

But, in terms of hardware – N8 is just a regular device

I never knew that a “near perfect phone” is actually a “regular phone”.

In his mobile-review forum he has mentioned regarding “One of our children is missing” post from nokia :

Also, if they name me, it will be public defamation and my lawyer insist that we have go to court.

The twitter addict keeps tweeting something related or indirectly related to Nokia to keep him in News. I think no one even bother to look at him unless the news is related to some Nokia phone leak. People realize his existence if any Nokia phone is leaked, and await his tweet.

His recent tweets against Nokia show more of an emotion outburst than real journalism.

Do I support Nokia’s act ?

Yes I do. I knew that this would happen if not today, then some day. I think every company has a right to safeguard their property. As per Nokia they did request Eldar to return the prototypes, directly or may be indirectly. I think Eldar should co-operate with Nokia and return all the un-authorized prototypes he is having, rather than just denying the charges ( coz i wonder anyone would believe that ). To be frank, I used to respect Eldar in early days when I used to regularly visit his site for unbiased phone reviews, but not anymore. He has just lost it all, not only from me ..but many nokia fans like me.

As a background, net neutrality refers to guidelines that simply state that users have the power to control the content they view and use on the internet. This guideline has been in use since the Internet was developed but over the years ISPs using their big marketing position have tried to control what users get. In many cases, these firms have discriminated against competing services so that users only get partial versions of the information they actually need to stay informed.

Net neutrality has generated more talk because ISPs want FCC to give them the authority to decide what information gets to users. They want to control the content, the speed at which it reaches you and even at what time.

The question that arises is, how does the ISP determine what the consumer need? How much he needs and even at what tine he needs it? The arguments against the ISP submissions are that, individuals have peculiar needs that cannot be accurately determined in advance. The opponents to this ISP suggestion believe that FCC is simply enforcing a rule that has exited previously and that the ISPs stand no particular disadvantage with the conversion of the guidelines into rules.

By net neutrality, all players in the internet business including phone manufacturers offering competing services to the ISP stand the equal chance of generating sales from their services and products.

How will the service providers respond if these conventions are turned into rules? Will they have to rebrand their products, charge more fees or simply offer consumers what they can afford? The extent to which the rules go will answer all of these questions.

We all are worried about the life threatening risk which mobile radiation cause to human being. However, studies have not yet proved that how much effect does cell phone radiation has on human being, but the same is proved on Honey bees in Kerala , a state in India. It seems the harmful electro magnetic radiations from mobile towers have a potential to kill the worker bees that go out to collect nectar from flowers.

As per the initial test carried out, a plunge in beehive population has been reported from different parts of Kerala and if measures are not taken to check mushrooming of mobile powers, bees could be wiped out from Kerala within a decade, environmentalist and Reader in Zoology, Dr Sainudeen Pattazhy says in his study.

In one of his experiments he found that when a mobile phone was kept near a beehive it resulted in collapse of the colony in five to 10 days, with the worker bees failing to return home, leaving the hives with just queens, eggs and hive-bound immature bees.

Even though this problem is a big one, I wonder there is any solution available for the same. If electromagnetic waves can cause this much rish to honey bees, how much it might affect the humans. I feel its better that to whichever extent possible, avoid the usage of cell phones.

These guys developed the fastest and one of the cleanest car washes in the world. Still working on a couple minor bugs though . I am sure that after this, you would always prefer the traditional way to get your car washed up.

For me , anything which distract your mind or take your eyes off road while driving , let it be Texting or talking over phone, eating , drinking or even listening loud music can be very very dangerous and specially on highways.

The study conducted is as follows :

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute used cameras to continuously observe light vehicle drivers and truckers for more than 6 million miles. It found that when drivers of heavy trucks texted, their collision risk was 23 times greater than when not texting.

Dialing a cell phone and using or reaching for an electronic device increased risk of collision about 6 times in cars and trucks.

Finally , I hope with such studies and trying to prove already proven facts with numbers, people will take some extra care while driving. At this time, I can only request tecfre.com readers to be drive carefully and minimize the use of cellphone to the extent possible while driving. Happy Driving
