    Hi readers !! Accept my hearty apologies for not updating the blog that much this week and last week. Nothing to be blamed but our new house hunting here at Dubai. Finally the flat is finalized and me and three of my friends will be moving to a 2BHK on 8th floor at a newly constructed 30 storey building. The rent of the flats above 9th floor is higher by 5000AED per annum, coz of great landscape view. We will be moving in on Sunday and again shifting internet connection might take one week. So my ir-regular session of blogging and replying to comments is gonna continue for one more week and then will be back to normal.

    The flat hunting in Dubai could be fun fill as well as tiring too. Ours was full of fun and it was good interacting with the watchman and then the Real Estate agency guys over phone. One funny thing went like this

    We went in a building and inquired the Watchman who told us only families are allowed to stay there. He gave us the office number, and we went on the conversation with an Arab, who immediately denied of giving the flat as we are bachelors. Next magic sentence my friends uttered was

    “But, we are very decent bachelors !!”

    I wonder what the arab understood, but he asked the watchman to show us the flat !!! :D . But we decided against it as the condition of flat was really very pathetic.

    But luck was with us and we found the pretty good flat finally. Now shifting the flat is another nightmare, I think much bigger than shifting a webhost. ;)

    I will be back soon :)

    Thats nice of you Kanak…

    Was wondering why a more than 10th floor would be costly… Here in India, no one prefer to take a house so high… :)

    Where is the apartment? And how much are you paying for a month? Wanted to ask you, what car do you have?

    Good luck.

    Indians are good in getting things done their own way. I suppose that sentimental dialogue “But, we are very decent bachelors !!” and the way it had been said, proves that.
    :-)
    anyways, it’s good that your quest for getting a good flat is over and now we can have many interesting articles to read and comment upon. Even, I was down with viral fever so couldn’t post that much on my own blog itself.

    amazing , 19th floor ..woah !!! I wonder the amazing view you will have from that.
    @ashwin,
    Apartment at Al-nahda .. comes on the border of sharjah. Its 60 k , 1100 sq ft. We are planning to sublet one room to another guy for 2k to bring down our expenses. :D
    My car .. an old Nissan Sunny :( … Wish to buy a 4X4 or a mustang .. :lol: .. might take years to fulfil this dream :D

    60k and Al Nahda is not so bad. I know that place. One of my colleague got for 55k a year (2nd floor) before he got married. You should be worried about commuting from Al Nahda and Deira daily. The traffic sucks.

    By the way, your car or company car?

    @ashwin,
    al nahda also the rents are soaring. I know some friends who got flats for 25k (single BHK) a year ago and now the same is for 45k. Commuting from nahda is not a prob as it takes 25-30 mins for me to reach office. Same like from Bur to dierra. Its my car (actually bank’s coz its on loan :( ),2003 Nissan sunny, I was lucky to get the manual liscence within 6 months of coming to dubai and that too first attempt :D .

    @rakshit,
    great to see you back. Very happy that now you are fit and fine and ready to hug your blog :)

    @nirmal ,
    Thanks nirmal . Hoping to finalize things today

    Wow – we used to play on top of a multi-storey building – we used skateboards too, which is a little worrying when I look back at those days…

    Funny enough, I am doing some building work in a large Multi-storey building in london – I am so glad that I dont suffer from heights!
