Apple : the trendsetter for mobiles, First Iphone and now the App Store

A lot of time has passed and history repeat itself with the launch of Apple Iphone and the same can quoted for apple as ;

A small step for Apple; A giant leap for mobilekind!!!

Iphone, The trendsetter for Touchscreen phones

How much of an Apple or an Iphone hater you are; you have to accept the massive change which this device has brought to mobile world, and it wont be a exaggeration, that, it has become more like a Trendsetter.

Iphone killer is the term which came into existence after Apple Iphone was launched in 2007. It was just the starting of new era which saw a shift from

• Stylus oriented UI to Finger supported UI.
• Normal menu navigation to Fluid (or animated ) transitions between the menus.
• Bulky touchscreen phones to Keyboardless touchscreen phones.
• Status symbol to Fashion symbol
• Single Screen Orientation to Automatic Sensor based Screen Orientation
• Button based navigation to Gesture based navigation
• Resistive Single touch technology to Capacitive Multi-touch technology.

The kind of revolution an apple Iphone has brought in the mobile world can be observed with the availability of numerous number of touchscreen phones from LG, Samsung and Blackberry , many even with high technical specs than Iphone, but still trying hard to prove that they are the true winner of Iphone Killer Trophy. Palm has launched Pre, which is nearly a rip off of Iphone UI ( however, highly technologically advanced).

With little more than a week left for MWC 2009 , we see LG Arena , Samsung Acme , Acer Smartphone , Toshiba TG01 etc etc etc etc .. the list is just never ending.

However, who disagree with me on Apple Iphone being a trendsetter; sell off 1 million of your single product in less than 3 days and I will agree that your product is going to be the next trendsetter.

Application Store , Create one… the Apple Way

I wonder it took so so so long for mobile phone manufactures to understand that an Application Store for mobile phone, do count a lot.

Whats the use of manufacturing a high tech phone including the most innovative technology , when there is no way to use or exploit it to the max. With more than 15,000 apps available in Apple app store , Iphone users are actually aware of what their Iphone is actually capable of doing.

500 million (and counting) application downloads as of mid of Jan 2009, shows the popularity and user’s enthusiasm for an application to get the most out of his phone.

Apple application store has again become a trendsetter for mobile giants like Samsung, Palm , Blackberry and Nokia ( rumored to be announced this MWC 09 ) to have one for their huge portfolio of mobile phones.
It really surprises me that it took so long for Nokia to realize this because of huge amount of applications are available for their Symbian S60 platform. It was always used to be a pain to search an application, whose existence you are not sure of. But lets wait for MWC 2009 and watch what Nokia has done to get this right.

Who can forget the long queues formed by Apple fans even around 2 days before the launch of Iphone, and the same trend was followed for Nokia 5800 and Blackberry Storm

I wonder whether this also could be a trend setter , Apple’s Itunes music store , Nokia music store, …….. ???

However, I wonder other mobile phone manufactures also think out of the box which finally turn out to be a trendsetter. After all , Apple must not have hired all the creative thinkers.. !!! How about Nokia Tube Dance ??
