Social status of being rich, is something which many people like to have, no matter how much you ask them to spend for it. It even make the dumbest looking idea of making money, turning you into a millionaire.
However, in this case the developer of the $999 “I am Rich” Application, didnt become a millionaire, but he did something which made the first buyer cry his head out to Apple.
For those who are totally unaware of what I Am talking about, couple of days back most of the gadget blogs in the blogosphere was blogging about the $999 application over the apple store, which actually do nothing other than the two functions
a red jewel icon that “always reminds you (and others when you show it to them) that you were able to afford this,” and, after pressing the “(i)”, a secret mantra that “may help to you stay rich, healthy and successful.“
People laughed and joked over Apple, that who would like to have an Icon as a status symbol, just to show off in front of your friends that “You were able to Afford this !! ”
8 Genuine Buyers and 1 moron
The first buyer actually turned out to be moron ( no offense to him ) , but it seemed that he thought that the application which appeared over the apple store was just a prank , and went ahead and purchased the application. However he got the shock of his life when he actually saw $999 deducted from his account.
So, in order to prevent his other unknown buddies from getting into the scam , he wrote this review :

However, 1st buyer got it by mistake , but then next day there were 8 people more who bought this application, and I am sure that they knew what they were doing.
Apple has removed the application from the Store but the German application developer, Armin Heinrich, has a genuine argument to make over Apple’s action
I am sure a lot more people would like to buy it—but currently can’t do so. I have no idea why they [Apple] did it [retire the application] and am not aware of any violation of the rules to sell software on the App Store. The App is a work of Art and included a “secret mantra”—that’s all.

Well yes !! it is technology related funny news, but again the authenticity or 1st buyer being a moron is not yet confirmed.
However , the main reason of publishing this story was something about Apple and Iphone. Harishankar over mobilejgames ask his readers why should he buy an Iphone 3G in India, and here you see one reason for which rich people wont mind to stand in the Iphone Queue, so that they can keep it as a status symbol with the $999 application installed.
After reading and knowing about this, can you actually feel that there could be any Iphone killer in near future ?? Ask me ..and my answer will be a big NO !!!!

hahaha… well needless to say Iphone has its own craze, and in India I hope we are going to see the same early queue formation on 21st August.
Airtel and vodafone are ready to take a big toll on other network’s earning.
But I dont see any 3G news coming along with this. So is it, they are introducing 3g with this phone? or its just going to use GPRS as usual?

I can just ask you to wait and watch …21st august is not that far … but not GPRS , may be EDGE could be used till 3g is available widely in India.

hahah .. cracked version of this app… may be we need to search warez… however it wont be difficult to create this application .. after all it doesnt have any functionality and you can get much shiny web 2.0 jewel icons to get the same feel. Just beware of copyright
but, I am going to wait until 3G comes with it. Otherwise iPhone has nothing new to me…

normally there is a purchase confirmation page before you actually purchase stuffs.. however… due to one click buying option from apple .. you have choice to skip the confirmation page… however this choice could be very heavy on your pocket at times.
