    So finally an Iphone killer is lauched and too at a half price !!!! July 11th Is the release date !!

    So many hot details with 3g iphone, hard to fit in a single headline. However I tried my best :D … So ladies and gentlemen, with the release of 3g iphone, I truly feel that apple has created a history. Indian apple fan boys, cheer up !!! India will be getting 3g Iphone. Hence my prediction that Iphone in India will be the old generation one, proved false, and I am happy about it. I wish I could also attend the WWDC.

    Apple created history !!!

    Why do I say so ??? To answer this, first tell me any mobile phone brand which has released an High end version of a highly popular mobile phone, at a price lower than the current market price of the old version ??? As far as I can think of, there’s no one !!!
    Second Question , how much would you like to pay for a mobile phone, which has a :
    1. High Quality VGA resolution screen , 3.5″ .
    2. GPS
    3. 16 GB storage
    4. Highly usable for Enterprise applications.
    5. And many more features

    and , if your answer is around $500 to $600 , then may be you need to have a look at $300 solution available at Apple !!

    Iphone need no introduction and so goes for 3g iphone. I feel apple did what people wanted and with such a killer price, I think there will not be any other Iphone killer in this whole decade, unless , released by Apple !! :D

    70 countries get Iphone !! Why not UAE ???

    Iphone is now going to get officially launched in 70 countries. Look at the map below, and for the first time ,

    dark RED color will symbolize happiness and excitement rather than DANGER

    (unless you get toooo excited ) !!! However, I really wished for UAE to be in the list.. :(

    wwdc iphone 3g iphone

    Iphone buzz reached YOUTUBE : First 3g Iphone Commercial

    It was minute after 3g iphone was released and youtube is having tons and tons of video of the first Iphone commercial with the tagline that

    Only an Iphone Can Beat an Iphone !!

    Have a look !!

    Whats your opinion ??

    As i said earlier, Iphone need no introduction !!! However, with this launch , I have found my new phone !!! What about you ??? However, I think solar power in Iphone is missing ( I think i am getting tooo demanding ;) )

    Update: the lucky 22 countries which will get iphone on 11th July are as follows

    Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US.

    For me still its a disappointing one with no camera upgrade, picture messaging, no video and no bluetooth audio.

    @nirmal
    yeah its 2MP only as far as I believe. However, I am not much bothered about Camera because of my N95 :D … Secondly picture messaging is not required coz you can send pictures directly to email … believe me, its just so convenient, with just touch of a screen. I feel , its gonna be pretty good … I wanted GPS, thats there :D

    Well when you have a N95, then you dont have to worry about Camera, but people looking for buying a new phone atleast in India will have this impact. 3G and GPS are still in developing stage in India, so “3G iPhone will just have the impact of any other phone, but may be because of the fact that its from Apple, people would buy, otherwise I find no reason in buying it, I would rather go with HTC diamond or XPERIA.

    I have been in the US for more than 1 and half years now I always subdued my earlier craving to not but the iPhone since I knew it would get more cheaper, you will definitely see me in the line for that iPhone this 11th of July.

    There is a little difference. Apple Iphone you can only believe when you use it … Sony Xperia and HTC diamond are not yet released.. HTC is popular for making slow phones… If you see HTC diamond video in Youtube, you will find the phone getting hanged so many times while the guy is demonstrating… You will get a highly slow camera which with is so prone to shake ( this is one prob which i have seen with most of the touchscreen phones : slow processor )….
    Now, Sony Xperia , let me see any hands on video .. but to tell you frankly ..I havnt found anything special in that ( however , again my opinion might change after watching any hands on video) … :D

    Congrats for finally deciding on Iphone.. and believe you will really amazed to see what all it can do .. also with some crazy applications :D … With such a cheap price ..I am sure its gonna be a big hit…. however, do you know by any means I can get it at UAE from US ;) … I am sure this time Apple is not gonna reduce the price…. However there is a possibility after 6 months they will wipe out 8gb version and 16GB will sell at 199$ and 32GB at 299$ … not sure though :D

    I just said my opinion and I’m not going to get iPhone even if its released in India. :-) BTW HTC diamond is released in India.

    I doubt HTC is going to make somthing exciting. They always have the least CPU speed that can be used for the OS and have tonnes of features. But Sony usually makes phones with execellent hardware with limited technologies. However the user will be kept happy at any point of usage. I hate these HTC and Moto phones with MS OS. If you are planning to go for windows mobile then you should preffer the higher most end and check the CPU speed before you buy. Nokia has the right hardware for the technology and only hangs after heavy usage like installing and removing softwares. Anyway I am still waiting for the iphone stuff to get released in India.

    You must do a small research with hardware spec before buying any higher end phones. What they usually do is reduce the cost by compromising with the hardware which is not really good as you know. :)

    One more point to add to this- “least CPU speed that can be used for the OS and have tonnes of features”
    IMHO the reverse is also of no use. :-)

    I agree over the speed of HTC .. I doubt whether it actually stand anywhere to the competition … coz of its slow speed ..

    @nirmal

    I am not sure , but if you indirectly mean to say that there are no applications for iphones or nokia … then I think you should see the amazing applications available for Iphone … the amazing the phone is … the crazy are the applications … watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcB8CKa73B0

    Meanwhile, I doubt what are we people from India going to do with iPhone 2.0 as there is no 3G network here yet? May be coz its cheaper then the 2g one people might go for it. ;)

    @Kanak,
    It was a general comment, not for any phone in particular, I was answering to Mobile J Games, thought on hardware of a mobile. Even if hardware is good, whats the use if there are no features. HTC is the reverse as per him. I was not mentioning about “Applications”.

    I am sure 3g network will be there in India soon .. but however since it will be initial launch .. video calls + browsing rate will be tooo costly .. so 3g network doesnt make sense… however, Iphone killer tagline is enough for people to buy :D

    @nirmal

    @Mobile J Games,
    3G iPhone is coming to India, Apple has confirmed it and now coming to the price, Unwired view had estimated the price to be higher than the current iPhone version of 28k. So its not going to any cheap.

    Moreover this $199 is Apple price, we need to shell out more for AT &T contract for 2 year, so in a sense we are giving the rest of money to AT &T instead of Apple.

    iPhone is a thing which isn’t in my Apples collection. My next phone is an Apple iPhone. :D

    iPhone will launch in India with the same $200 price tag. Your contract with the network operators (Airtel and Vodaphone) will be for a minimum 2 years.

    UAE is worse than India. People have a lot of money (locals that is) at their disposal. If expats weren’t high there, I’m sure du wouldn’t have been. Apple won’t bend to Abu Dhabi (etisalat) and Dubai (du) government policies. Unless they be flexible, no way iPhone will debut in UAE.

    @ashwin,
    hmmm .. i do feel you have a point but there are chances … however I hope unlocking iphone is no big deal .. let me see, if an unlocked 3g Iphone cost somewhat equal to the locked .. may be i will get it from here itself ..
    However, etisalat and DU can not keep their policies for long .. there will be a change … either sooner or later :D

    This unlocking thing needs to seen. Reports say Apple or AT&T can only unlock iPhone. It’ll be a $200 paper weight unless it can be unlocked by ourself like iPhone 1.0.

    @Nirmal ,
    Steve Jobs said (watch the WWDC keynote) the hardware will only cost Rs 8250/$200. Airtel/Vodaphone will obviously club in their plan charges for a period of 2 years, thereby increasing the total cost.

    The hardware might be cheaper at $200, but we are interested in the final price that Vodafone or Airtel is going to charge.

    @ Nirmal ,
    Apple will charge Rs 8250 for the hardware. It’s Airtel who will bring the cost to Rs 28k. Rs 20k for 24 months is what you pay. If we get 3G, free calls/SMSes and other VAS, then for Rs 830/month seems to be reasonable. Don’t confuse iPhone is costly. Remember you won’t pay network usage every month.

    If your N 80 costs Rs 20k, please check how much you’re going to pay for 2 years to the network.

    Nevertheless if we can unlock it in home, then buying the iPhone for $200 is the best thing to happen to mobile phones.

    @ashwin,
    that explains it very well … However, I hope unlocking software works for iphone 2.0 also. If it does , as you said, it would be the best thing happening to a mobile phone :D … However, we will miss out some crazy applications from apple store … Anyways lets wait and watch … :D

    @nirmal
    Ashwin explains it well, i remember spending 500 to 1000 rupees per month on mobile is now very very usual in India ( as far as I have heard ) . So, if we get some good deal on that ..I am sure buying iphone for 25 to 30k wont be a bad option. however, the only thing is it wont reach masses coz, every one think of price first than the facilities you are getting with that …

    I feel its a good move by TRA, otherwise they would fix up their own prices. I feel atleast it should be available to a minimum of 2 operators in each country so that customers have some benefit.
    But anyways bad news for iPhone fans.

    @ Nirmal,Ashwin,Kanak

    Ashwin’s logic does make sense at some level - but the whole point of MSP locking is to bring about more subscriptions. Since there is no “monopoly” persay with both Airtel and Vodafone launching the phone, there would exist some level of competition - and that should be able to keep prices at some decent levels.

    Like Kanak said, guess we’d just have to wait and watch.
